About Me

Hello Durand Families!

I am so excited for another awesome year here at Durand Middle School!

I began working at Durand Public Schools four years ago (2017) as a 5th-grade reading and writing teacher. I’m beyond excited to work with your child(ren) for my fifth year here!

I want my students and families to feel comfortable coming to me with any questions or concerns that they may have throughout the year, so here is a bit of information about me.

I was born and raised in Flushing, about 20 minutes NE of Durand. I graduated from Flushing High School in 2005 and attended Mott Community College. In 2009, I was accepted to Grand Valley State University (Go Lakers!) to obtain my teaching degree. During my time there, I met my husband, Travis Klooster, who also works in Durand at the high school. In 2013, I graduated from Grand Valley with a Bachelor’s Degree in English and Elementary Education. Shortly after that, Travis and I got married. We now have a 5-year-old son named Grayson, an almost 2-year-old son named Weston, a Golden Retriever named Louie, and a Mini Dachshund named Cooper! We are also welcoming our third child, a girl, on September 1st of this year! Because of this, I will be on maternity leave for the first marking period. During that time, Mr. Carl Cooke will be my long term sub while I am on leave. Mr. Cooke has been subbing in the district for many years and I'm very happy and excited to welcome him into my classroom.

This is my fifth year working in Durand, my 8th year of teaching so far, and I absolutely love it! Working with the students and staff at Durand Middle School is so much fun and rewarding and I’m so glad to be a part of the Railroader Family!

Please, if you have any questions, concerns, or you just want to chat, do not hesitate to contact me! The best way to contact me initially is through the Remind app. Remind can be accessed through a smartphone or computer. I will be posting period codes for parents and guardians to sign up through in order to stay in contact with me about assignments, students, and school info.

Thank you so much for everything you do and I can’t wait to have another great Railroader year!
