About Me
Hello Durand Families!
I am so excited for another awesome year here at Durand Middle School!
I began working at Durand Public Schools in 2017 as the 5th grade ELA teacher, and have since moved into teaching ELA for 7th grade. I absolutely love teaching this grade and building relationships with the students!
I want my students and families to feel comfortable coming to me with any questions or concerns that they may have throughout the year, so here is a bit of information about me.
I was born and raised in Flushing, about 20 minutes NE of Durand. I graduated from Flushing High School in 2005 and attended Mott Community College. In 2009, I was accepted to Grand Valley State University (Go Lakers!) to obtain my teaching degree. During my time there, I met my husband, Travis Klooster, who also works in Durand at the high school. In 2013, I graduated from Grand Valley with a Bachelor’s Degree in English and Elementary Education. Shortly after that, Travis and I got married. We now have three children, Grayson, Weston, and Tessa, a Golden Retriever named Louie, and a Mini Dachshund named Cooper!
I love to camp, garden, clean, read books, and drink coffee ☕️
This is my eighth year working in Durand, my twelfth year of teaching so far, and I absolutely love it! Working with the students and staff at Durand Middle School is so much fun and rewarding, and I’m so glad to be a part of the Railroader Family!
Please, if you have any questions, concerns, or you just want to chat, do not hesitate to contact me! The best way to contact me is through email. My email address is [email protected].
Thank you so much for everything you do and I can’t wait to have another great Railroader year!
